Below is a precis of Teddy Bourne’s report on The Reform Club annual dinner held on 28 January 2015:
Nineteen members of the Chess Circle attended, an increase of three on last year.
During the afternoon the final games of the Hamilton-Russell tournament and the Eastman tournament were played in the Library, Richard Hall emerging the victor of the former with Nicholas Cron as runner-up, and Paul Hendrick overcoming Benedikt Koehler to win the latter.
Before dinner, Thomas Bewley, as our senior member, presented the cups to the winners.
We then enjoyed an excellent dinner, during which Konstantin Yelin announced the relaunching of the chess ladder.
The now traditional after-dinner chess game followed, and was won by Richard Hall’s team.
